How do I apply EasyDECONŽ  *see protocol

EasyDECONŽ Decontamination Solution can be applied using a variety of application methods. EasyDECONŽ is best applied in relatively low to moderate humidity in a temperature range of 45°F (7.2°C) to 85°F (29.4°C).  EasyDECONŽ can be applied as a fog or 'mist' using a fogging system, as a liquid using a hand held pump sprayer, in a bath solution for dunking equipment and materials, or using Compressed Air Foam Systems.  (CAFS) expands Easy DECONŽ giving the end user a greater amount of decontamination solution and longer contact time.

For surface decontamination, apply EasyDECONŽ and ensure the surface area or equipment remains wet during for the required (30) minutes dwell time. Once the required dwell time has elapsed, remove EasyDECONŽ in accordance with the clean-up recommendation. EasyDECONŽ will neutralize or kill any suspected chemical or biological agent and not allow the agent to regenerate itself into hazardous waste.

For indoor airborne mold and bacteria, the recommended application technique is fogging. Any cold fogger capable of producing 20-30 micron size droplets will be adequate. Fog the interior of the structure and allow for a 1 hour dwell time. Repeat the process a second time allowing for an additional 1 hour dwell time.

How does EasyDECONŽ work?
EasyDECONŽ is a three component system comprised of a Penetrator solution, a Fortifier and a Booster. The Penetrator solution is a surfactant solution and wets out the surface of the mold spore, virus, bacteria, or mycotoxin.

The Fortifier is hydrogen peroxide. Once mixed in the finished product, it is about the same strength as a household antiseptic. As a peroxide, it can cause skin irritation after prolonged exposure, irritation of the mucous membranes if inhaled, or cause burns to the eyes... just as would occur with household strength hydrogen peroxide.

The Booster is a material that reacts with the peroxide to form a high energy and fast acting oxidizing species. It is safe for use, and is an FDA approved food packaging material.

Once properly mixed, The Penetrator or surfactant wets out the surface of the spore, punches holes in it, and draws the oxidizer to the spore. The oxidizing agent enters the spore and attacks the DNA chain, breaking it into small pieces via oxidation of specific chemical/protein bonds, and neutralizes the spore.  EasyDECONŽ's technology eliminates the potential for the development of antimicrobial resistance commonly encountered with many traditional disinfectants that only disrupt cell functioning. This is especially important in healthcare environments where microbial mutation and antibiotic resistance are major concerns in fighting disease.

Similarly, the surfactant wets out or dissolves the toxin, where the oxidizing species reacts with various parts of the toxin molecule, breaking it and neutralizing it.

How much product needs to be applied?
If EasyDECONŽ is applied as a fog, the proper protocol is, “the fog in the area should be thick enough so that the opposite side of the area is visible but difficult to see"  If EasyDECONŽ is applied as a foam, DTR Corporation recommends 2-3 inch layer of foam to all suspected surfaces. If EasyDECONŽ is applied as a spray the protocol is to spray treat all surfaces.  Generally, if you are planning new build construction treatment; take the footprint of the structure and multiply by 4.  This figure will give you the approximate total square foot figure.  Depending on the type of sprayer used in the application (garden sprayer vs. high efficiency electrostatic sprayers) you will divide total square footage by 1000 or 10,000 respectively, to get the number of gallons.  *1 gallon covers 100-300sf if using a garden sprayer.  The objective in using EasyDECONŽ is to contact and wet out the contaminate for the required dwell time whether or not you are using foam, fog or spray.

How long should you leave the product before cleaning?
In lab tests, a 15 to 30 minute period was required for clearance results. On surfaces using a bio-reveal test bacterial counts can go from over 1,000 to below 10, in 30 seconds.  In mold remediation, the protocol is 60 mins x 2 dwell time, however for a more pervasive remediation project an extended dwell time will likely be required.  Make sure enough time is allotted to allow product to seep into cracks and crevices to find the mold or contaminate, wetting it out. The more porous the material, the longer the application time.  Surface and air sampling should be performed after treatment to determine that all contamination has been remediated.

How long after mixing is the product viable?
Once mixed EasyDECONŽ remains active and viable for 8 hours. EasyDECONŽ has a shelf life of 5 years when properly stored. Recommended handling and storage instructions for Easy DECONŽ:

PART ONE

Easy DECONŽ part one is an aqueous solution using a special combination of ingredients commonly found in laundry fabric softeners and fire fighting foams. As an aqueous solution, it will freeze at approximately 26°F. If it does freeze, it can be thawed and used in the liquid state as originally intended. After freezing and thawing, some white, gelatinous globules may be noticed. These are from an added foaming ingredient. If they are present, EasyDECONŽ part one should be agitated to dissolve the globules or droplets, and part one will be ready to use again.

For optimal long term shelf life, EasyDECONŽ part one should be stored in a cool location (near room temperature), but it will not be damaged by higher temperatures. At temperatures >120°F, some container bulging may be noted due to water vapor pressure inside the container. EasyDECONŽ part one will still perform as designed.

PART TWO

Easy DECONŽ part two is 7.95% liquid hydrogen peroxide. The product is packaged in clear bladders, drums or totes. As an aqueous solution, it will freeze at approximately 24°F. If freezing occurs, allow Easy DECONŽ part two to thaw.

Easy DECONŽ part two reaches a self-accelerating decomposition temperature (SADT) slightly above 140°F (50°C), and will lose all activity very quickly if this temperature is reached. Easy DECONŽ part two can be stored at up to 105° F (40°C) in a cyclical condition, with a high temperature in the afternoon and a low temperature at night. The package will protect the contents from the short periods at high temperatures.

For optimal long term shelf life, Easy DECONŽ part two should be stored at temperatures less than 85°F (30°C). Easy DECONŽ part two containers should not be exposed to direct sunlight, as that might result in high heat inside the container. When stored below 85°F, the material will lose <.1%/year in peroxide activity. The usage levels recommended to prepare finished blend have included an overuse designed to compensate for this natural activity loss.

PART THREE

Easy DECONŽ part three is an aqueous solution that is not susceptible to freezing. UV light will not degrade or affect the product. It is packaged in a sealed plastic container and has a boiling point of 280°F (138°C).

Necessary Equipment

What are the advantages of EasyDECONŽ as compared to traditional remediation?

Cost/Time/Labor:
With
EasyDECONŽ, office/home relocation living expenses can be reduced significantly or eliminated altogether. Our process can take as little as a 'few' hours depending on the source of contamination and building contents. Unlike traditional remediation which could cause your home or place of business to be closed and sealed off for weeks or months.

Guarantee:
With
EasyDECONŽ, there will be NO CHARGE for our product application if the building we treat does not pass the clearance test. (pending a thorough inspection and proper application by a trained and certified installer). Most traditional remediation contractors do not make any guarantees.

Mold/Mycotoxins/Allergens:
With
EasyDECONŽ, spores, toxins and allergens are neutralized by contact with our solution. Unless it is specifically requested, 'whole treatment' is rarely addressed when using traditional remediation.

Bacteria/Virus:
With EasyDECONŽ bacteria, and virus are neutralized by changes in their chemical or DNA structure rendering them 'dead' thereby eliminating any chance of 'super bug' regeneration. No other product or service available to the public offers this kind of protection.

VOC's/Toxic Chemicals:
EasyDECONŽ and it's proprietary chemical combination is capable of breaking apart chemical molecules, reducing them to inactive, harmless components.  No other product or service available to the public offers this kind of protection.

Unknown Areas:
EasyDECONŽ can and should be used to treat the ENTIRE structure from the crawl space, HVAC's to basement if necessary. With traditional remediation some protocols do not cover areas that are not directly impacted by water and mold, therefore post re-contamination is likely.

What is the Kill Time?
The only way to determine if contamination is neutralized is to conduct sampling operations. This procedure requires trained personnel in sampling techniques. A laboratory with trained staff must analyze biological samples to verify the results.

What is the optimal temperature for storing EasyDECONŽ?
DTR Corporation recommends keeping the solution in a cool, dry environment protected from direct sunlight or UV light. EasyDECONŽ will freeze at 24 degrees Fahrenheit (-4 Celsius) and will boil at 200 degrees Fahrenheit (93 Celsius). The product will begin to degrade at a higher rate when subjected to temperatures in excess of 120 degrees Fahrenheit (49 Celsius).

What happens to a contaminate once neutralized?
Contaminates are killed, and their counterparts are reduced to a non-detectable level. Once neutralized, the contaminate is nonviable, and cannot grow or cause any further damage. Additionally, the toxins are neutralized and changed, and will not likely cause any further reactions. Below are anthrax spores before and after treatment. As you can see they are severely altered. Clean up using water, rags, mops and vacuums is all that is needed to remove dead contaminates.

Can...?

Can I See Fogging : Video
Can I see Spraying: Video

Can I use EasyDECONŽ in the kitchen?
Yes, EasyDECONŽ is non-toxic to humans. You will want to wipe down all surfaces that will come into contact with food preparation areas, just as you would with any kitchen cleaner.

Can I use EasyDECONŽ to pretreat for mold?
Yes, EasyDECONŽ is used to pretreat porous construction materials such as lumber, drywall, flooring, cabinetry, and furnishings.  With EasyDECONŽ there is no need for precleaners.  Simply apply EasyDECONŽ as one step process to eliminate 'kill' any existing contamination and the remaining residue acts as the microbial shield providing long term protection. *Note: fasteners, flashings, nails and screws used in construction should be electro galvanized, G -185 is the best galvanized protection that you can buy. Simpson's ZMax line and USP Structural Connectors' Triple Zinc line both are rated at G-185. As for nails and screws, many of the composite coatings that are currently available are still good. The key is to NOT use raw (untreated) metals.

Can the species determine whether EasyDECONŽ will be effective?
No. The formulation is effective against all common sporicidal and mold species. It has passed the AOAC Sporicidal Test against spores, the most rigid bio test there is, and the AOAC Use Dilution test.

Why ... ?

Why use EasyDECONŽ?
With traditional remediation, protocols do not cover areas that are not directly impacted by infected areas. EasyDECONŽ effectively treats every cubic inch neutralizing all mold, bacteria, virus, toxins, VOC's, mVOC's and allergens.   Additionally, unlike other remediation products, with EasyDECONŽ you're treating for other contamination such as virus, bacteria, toxic industrial chemicals that are likely associated with contamination events.  EasyDECONŽ eliminates pollutant microns of even the smallest known size with an efficiency rate of 99.99999%.  Insurance companies prefer to eliminate the time and labor costs associated with traditional remediation and the use of HEPA air scrubbers which have an efficiency rate far lower, at only 99.97%. With EasyDECONŽ there is no worry over dirty filters, or inoperable parts and equipment, guaranteeing clearance testing after the first treatment.

Is...?

Is EasyDECONŽ a Green Clean Product?
Yes, the
ingredients in the product fall within the criteria for potential human health and environmental effects and that - based on currently available information, predictive models, and expert judgment -  contains only those ingredients that pose the least concern to humans and the environment among chemicals in their class.  Additionally, as compared to other methods of remediation, EasyDECONŽ is resource and energy efficient minimizing the depletion of natural resources. Reduces remediation of affected construction materials by as much as 60% therefore minimizing landfill deposits while also conserving raw construction materials and conserving energy resources created by other methods of remediation such as air cleaners and air scrubbers.

1) Is EasyDECONŽ environmentally friendly?
Despite EasyDECONŽ’s power, the primary oxidizers within the formulation will decompose into oxygen and water.  Consequently, the formulation has none of the problems of gaseous release of using chlorine (chlorinated organics) or chemical residues that are associated with other chemical oxidants.  In addition, since the formulation is totally miscible with water, it is perfectly safe to handle and apply to many materials.  EasyDECONŽ complies with the Pollution Prevention Act, the Clean Air Act, and Public Law regarding the use of hazardous and toxic materials and Ozone Depleting Substances. EasyDECONŽ does not contribute to the negative impact associated with greenhouse gasses produced by competitors products.

2) Is the fogging technique consistent with the Clean Air Act?
We do not emit any emissions; our fog is a liquid not a gas so the particulates that form the fog fall to the ground.  Our product is actually grasping harmful spores floating in the air and capturing, destroying and removing them. Our fog is contained in a structure and dissipates and evaporates leaving a solid particulate that is removed therefore it does not fall under any of the criteria of the Clean Air Act.

3) Is EasyDECONŽ biodegradable and non-toxic?
Yes.  Two independent laboratories have tested EasyDECONŽ.  EasyDECONŽ meets biodegradability criteria within 30 days making it “inherently biodegradable”.  Toxicity and biodegradability testing was done in 2005 with a laboratory (Vizon SciTec) in Canada.  The by-products of EasyDECONŽ formulations have not been determined to have cancer causing or other toxic effects.  Because EasyDECONŽ is non toxic does not mean it is meant for ingestion and caution should be taken in storage. Keep away from children.

Does EasyDECONŽ contain perfumes?
No, EasyDECONŽ neutralizes odor by eliminating the cause of the odor without the use of perfumes and masking chemicals.

Is the residue toxic?
The residues of the chemical reaction with spores and toxins are not toxic. The spores are neutralized, and the toxins no longer toxins, but much shorter chain molecules. EasyDECONŽ itself is inherently biodegradable, and can be rinsed to drain.

Is EasyDECONŽ an encapsulate?
No, EasyDECONŽ does not encapsulate the contaminate.  EasyDECONŽ kills and therefore eliminates the potential for re-growth or reemission of the contaminate.  The fact that EasyDECONŽ is not an encapsulate makes EasyDECONŽ the preferred choice for treating contaminated areas because the contaminate is completely removed from the area during clean up.

Is EasyDECONŽ packaging recyclable?
Yes, each container includes a 1-800# of which pickup for recycling of the containers can be arranged.

Is EasyDECONŽ considered to be hazardous material?
No, EasyDECONŽ is not considered to be hazardous and requires no special handling during shipping and transportation.
